CSIR Young Scientist Awards

This award was introduced in 1987 by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to promote excellence in science and technology in India. The fields covered under these awards are Biological, Chemical, Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary, Engineering and Physical (including Instrumentation) Sciences. The Award comprises a citation, a plaque and a cash prize of Rs.50,000.

SHANTI SWARUP BHATNAGAR AWARD

Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar better known as "The Father of Research Laboratories". He was the Founder Deputy General of Council for Scientific & Industrial Research(CSIR), one of the largest funding agency for scientific and industrial research. He established a total twelve national laboratories such as Central Food Processing Technological Insitute(Mysore), National Chemical Laboratory(Pune), the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, the National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, the Central Fuel Institute, Dhanbad, just to name a few. SSB awards for year 2007 have been declared by CSIR.
